A CALL TO ALL BRISTOL WRITERS! The Bristol Ecoshows Project seeks to use the arts to focus our communities across the city to respond to the environmental situation and reduce our carbon impact. There will be 2 shows this summer to present the project to the public – a full show at St Stephen’s Church Friday July 30th 7.30pm, and a highlights version Saturday July 31st at 1pm in Queen’s Square as part of the Harbourside Festival. There may well be other performances later this year and beyond. These shows will encompass the various Ecoshow projects happening across the city, and be held together by a specially commissioned piece of music, ‘The Bridging Place’ by Knud Stuwe, and a narrative of many stories, weaving through the music and performance. This narrative can include your story – a tale of your life in your city and how you respond to your community and the environment that holds us all. Tell us what you think, feel and wish for. Tell us about your community; its history and its future. Share the story of Bristol through your eyes. What we want: we are looking for writings of up to 600 words, which can be read out within a 5 minute slot. They can be fiction or non-fiction, all we ask is that they are from the heart and in some way include environmental issues. These might include thoughts on reducing carbon, driving less and cycling more, growing food on an allotment, or efforts to try bee-keeping! This call for submissions is open from June 1st through to June 30th. Submissions will be read through and selected by June 30th. The Ecoshows team reserve the right to edit submissions for the performance. Writers will be consulted and invited to a performance. There is a possibility of all the writings being published in a record of the Ecoshows work later in the year – all writers will be credited. Please send submissions – as many as you wish, of up to 600 words each, by email (no attachments please), with your name and contact info to: jamesmurraywhite@gmail.com Please put ‘Bristol Ecoshows submission/question’ in the subject line. Questions also to this email please. For further information on the Bristol Ecoshows Project, check our website: www.ecoshows.co.uk or find us on Facebook!
