Here's the latest news about The Bristol Ecoshow 2011
We spent the winter applying for funding, testing walks and campaigning. Our energy is high even if our coffers are low and sadly not to be filled. The Big Society has been thrust upon us!
On May 8 our walks begin along the biggest stream the Avon, and on June 17th at Saint Stephen's will be the main show this year.
In Hartcliffe Keith Way's been active galvanising support to try and prevent building on the banks of Pigeon House Stream as it runs through the estate. A high point was a full debate in the city council chamber in March when the Liberal politicians faced the passion of dozens of Keith's supporters in a rare public debate
Daithi O Suilleabhain is developing four walks: one in support of Keith tracing Pigeon House stream to its various springs on Dundry slopes, one linking together the Bristol Irish community around the city (Daithi's Dad was from Kerry), one with Redland community members around Redland Brook and one around Ashley Vale and Horfield brook, involving African Caribbean Elders and allotment holders.
Knud Stuwe re-arranged and performed the ecoshow suite at Saint Stephen's and his music will be added to an ecoshow promo film that James Murray-White put together, out at the end of April.
The last bit of news is that for the M Shed Opening we've been asked by the museum service to help with converging walks on Saturday the 18th June. So watch this space for details. Here's a draft table version of activities planned:
